Luxe Holidays in Mallorca

Yes, Mallorca has had a luxe make over it is no longer the home of the cheap package tour with sun and sangria with a full British breakfast on the side.

So you can either go hiking taking in the full extent of the island after negotiating the Tramuntana many twist and turns or you can enjoy the sand and the sun in a secluded cove.

Mallorca’s luxury villas and boutique hotels vary almost as much as the island itself: there are hip, minimal fincas, traditional townhouses and mountain retreats aplenty. Palma is the island’s self-assured capital, where yachts and cocktails cohabit happily with ancient winding streets beneath the towering, pink-hued Gothic cathedral.

So book in at one of these from the fabulous pick by Mr & Mrs Smith , My personal favourite is the L'Avenida in the mountain-valley town of Sóller , a blend of contemporary interior styling blending with the traditional Spanish style.

Hotels

Hotel Can Mostatxins - Rates from (inc tax)£140.58 - (More Information & Booking)

At the heart of Mallorca’s historic Alcúdia Old Town, style is set in stone at Hotel Can Mostatxins. Built into a 15th-century one-time olive-oil presser, the hotel makes a feature of its original mason-built walls, lending a sense of history to each of its eight rooms and a dramatic setting for its grotto-like courtyard and Jacuzzi.

L'Avenida - Rates from (inc tax)£119.28 (Shop Now)

Tucked away on a quiet road in the mountain-valley town of Sóller, this boutique hotel in Mallorca is a breath of cool fresh air. Arty decor and funky lighting play against restored ceiling mouldings and wrought-iron balustrades, giving this 1900s mansion a shot of Ibizan house-party cool. L'Avenida is the perfect location for lazing by the pool, sunsets by the sea, and exploring the jasmine-scented groves of the Tramuntana.

Cap Rocat -  Rates from (inc tax)£257.72 (More Information & Booking)

Make love not war at Cap Rocat’s former military fort, hidden on a cliff in a peaceful pocket of Palma bay. More heritage site than hotel, the fort’s defensive paraphernalia (drawbridge, bunkers, trenches) provide a dramatic setting for pared-down boutique bedrooms, a dazzling infinity pool and two tempting restaurants.

Son Mas - Rates from (inc tax)£229.19 (More Information & Booking)

Son Mas is a 17th-century finca turned boutique hotel just inland from Mallorca’s east coast, set among acres of fruit groves and farmland. Palma’s pulse-racing nightlife is a 40-minute drive away, but this rustic honey-and-cream-hued stay feels cloistered from the outside world – the ideal setting for a relaxing country break. There’s little to do here but drift along in the infinity pool, float out of the spa floral-scented and devour home-cooked Mallorcan cuisine, but that's all the excitement you'll need.
