Paper Pattern

To create the super-chic Bettine dress you’ll need the paper pattern from Tilly and the Buttons. This sewing pattern will show you how to create a dress with scoop neckline, kimono sleeves which hang softly around the underarm, a tulip skirt and optional pockets/cuff tabs for sewers who are a little more advanced. It also includes a booklet with step-by-step photographic instructions and a handy jargon buster page so you can easily learn the correct names of the techniques and stitches used.

The Bettine dress requires light to medium-weight fabric with drape for a comfortable fit. We like the Sevenberry Floral Outlines print fabric which is made from pure cotton and features a pretty floral print. To complete this pattern you’ll need 2-3 metres of fabric – this will depend upon the size you are creating for. The sewing pattern will contain further details of this. Measuring your body and fabric is a vital part of the dressmaking process and will help you to create a flattering and well-fitting dress that’s tailored exactly to your shape.
